IT’S confirmed: Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque broke off their engagement.
The former celebrity couple finally addressed reports about their breakup in a joint statement they shared on their respective Instagram accounts and said that they “mutually” agreed to call off their engagement.
“After much thought, consideration, and care we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement,” the ex-couple said.
Alonzo and Roque said that such a decision was not an easy one to make.
“We wanted to have more time to carefully deliberate and pray about it, but there have been many speculations, questions, and insults,” the ex-couple said.
The two also talked about individuals who have confirmed their split “without consent.”
“Unfortunately, some even confirmed our breakup without our consent, and some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false, so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families,” they stressed.
On February 6, TV host Boy Abunda confirmed in an episode of his show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that Alonzo and Roque had broken up, but stressed that they are still “trying to understand each other.” The host revealed that the actress has returned the engagement ring to Roque.
The “King of Talk” also appealed for “kindness” amidst talks of the ex-couple’s breakup.
Roque and Alonzo’s friend Beatrice Saw had come to the defense of the actress from negative comments she received following her breakup with her ex-fiancé.
In their statement, the ex-couple asked for understanding and appealed to spare them from “more cruel and very hurtful words thrown on social media.”
“We kindly request to give us the privacy we need as we navigate our future lives with respect, kindness, compassion, and dignity,” they said.
It was in 2021 when Alonzo confirmed that she was dating Roque after being friends for years, according to a report by GMA.
Roque then proposed to Alonzo in July 2023 in Quezon City.
