BEA Saw and Dominic Roque came to the defense of actress Bea Alonzo after the latter received negative comments following her reported breakup with Roque.
Saw reacted to a comment made by a netizen on X (formerly Twitter) about the unconfirmed split of Alonzo and her fiancé, claiming that the actress may have “something” about her character.
“Masyado naman mataas ang tingin ng mga tao kay B coz meron siyang lupain. Regardless of how rich you are, if meron something sa character mo, hindi ka pa rin pakakasalan ng lalaking mas mayaman sayo,” they said.
Saw refuted the comment and said, “Don’t worry, I assure you wala siyang something sa character.”
While the post only mentioned “B,” it was in response to another post showing TV writer G3 San Diego’s thoughts on Alonzo and Roque’s pairing. The post included screenshots of a question-and-answer session that San Diego hosted through her Instagram story.
In one of the photos, the TV writer gave her humble opinion about who might be a better fit for Alonzo, explaining the actress should date “someone more successful than her or as successful as her from another industry.”
Alonzo reunited with Saw and actress Dimples Romana over dinner in January. She posted several photos of their night-out on Instagram, where she described her celebrity friends as her “unpaid therapists.”
“No bashing”
On Facebook, Roque also stood by his fiancée and appealed to the public to refrain from “bashing,” amid talks about their recent split.
He said this as he reposted a reel he made in October 2022 for Alonzo’s birthday, showing clips of their sweet moments together during their travels.
“Bea’s a beautiful person inside [and] out,” Roque said, adding, “No hate/bashing/negative things please.”
On Tuesday, TV host Boy Abunda confirmed in an episode of his show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that the celebrity couple had parted ways, but stressed that the two are still trying to mend their relationship. Citing a source, the “King of Talk” also said that Alonzo has returned her engagement ring to Roque.
Abunda also addressed speculations about the reason behind the couple’s apparent breakup. While everyone was entitled to freedom of speech, the host called on the public to be “kind” with their comments, especially since not many knew the whole story.
“You have the right to comment, you have the right to share your opinion pero sana’y let’s exercise prudence, caution, and most important of all, kindness,” he stressed.
The couple was hounded by split rumors when some eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Alonzo was no longer wearing her engagement ring.
It was in July 2023 when Roque asked Alonzo’s hand for marriage.
As of writing, neither Alonzo nor Roque have spoken publicly about their alleged breakup.
