‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ queens Violet Chachki, Jimbo to dazzle Manila in joint tour

MANILA, make way for the queens!

Drag queens Violet Chachki and Jimbo from the iconic American reality competition television series RuPaul’s Drag Race will be stopping over in Manila this September to stage their glamorous joint show.

The glitzy Drag Revolution Manila will be held on September 23 at the PICC Forum.

Aside from the duo, more guests are expected to be included in the lineup for the show.

Tickets are now available for purchase on the website of event organizer Beyond Limits Events Production. 

Prices range from P4,000 for general admission to P14,880 for the platinum tier that includes a meet and greet opportunity with the performers and soundcheck access. But early birds can score discounted tickets for as low as P3,450.

The venue will be limited to a maximum of 2,000 attendees only.

Meet the drag queens

Violet Chachki, whose real name is Paul Jason Dardo, is an American drag queen, burlesque dancer, recording artist, and model. 

Violet rose to prominence as the winner of the seventh season of the reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2015. She became known for her unique and polished vintage-inspired aesthetic, with a focus on glamorous fashion and impeccable attention to detail.

Following her win on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Violet embarked on a successful career in entertainment. 

She has toured internationally, headlined numerous drag shows and events, and appeared in various music videos and television shows.

Violet is also a talented costume designer and has collaborated with notable fashion brands and designers to create unique and stunning outfits. She has designed for Dita Von Teese, Prada, Moschino, and Vogue, among others.

In addition to her drag career, Violet Chachki has ventured into music. 

She released her debut extended play called Gagged in 2015, which featured the popular single Bettie.

Jimbo, on the other hand, is a Canadian drag queen known for their unique and unconventional drag style. 

They rose to fame as a contestant on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race in 2020, where they quickly became a fan favorite.

The 40-year-old drag queen also appeared as a contestant in the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World, and in the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

Jimbo’s drag persona is characterized by their over-the-top and campy aesthetic. They are known for their exaggerated makeup, flamboyant costumes, and larger-than-life personality. 

They often incorporate elements of horror, clowning, and surrealism into their performances, creating a distinct and memorable stage presence.
