Minor Swifties traveling alone for Eras Tour need DSWD clearance – BI

by Carl Santos

MINORS or anyone under the age of 18 who plan to attend a Taylor Swift concert abroad need clearance from the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) before being allowed to depart the country.

Citing information from the DSWD, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday that Filipino minors who are traveling alone as tourists as well as those who are traveling with a person other than his or her parent are required to secure a travel clearance.

The BI also reminded young Swifties under 18 years old to secure parental consent if traveling alone, fill out their e-travel 72 hours prior to departure, and check-in at least three hours prior to their flight.

“We are expecting an increase in travelers during the first week of March during the Taylor Swift concert period, and of course as the summer season enters,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.

Swift began her only Eras Tour stop in Southeast Asia on Saturday, March 2, at Singapore’s National Stadium.

The other concert dates are March 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9.

Tansingco said that they are expecting around 150,000 Filipino departures for the first week of March, with concertgoers likely to make up a larger portion of the total.
