Here’s how fans can watch a special preview of the Parokya ni Edgar musical

by Joanna Deala

FOLLOWING the success of the Ang Huling El Bimbo (AHEB) musical, theater fans are looking forward to another show that will be based on the songs of the ‘90s OPM band Parokya ni Edgar.

What adds to their excitement is that they will have a chance to attend a special preview of the Parokya ni Edgar musical ahead of its public premiere.

Newport World Resorts (NWR) Musical announced on Facebook that fans may get to join this once-in-a-lifetime treat by guessing the title of the upcoming musical.

At least 90 theater goers will receive an exclusive invitation, NWR Musical said.

According to its mechanics, viewers should first follow the Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts of NWR Musical.

It will go live on these three social media platforms on September 8, 2023. Fans must then send their guesses in the comment section of the live video, which will run from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The first 30 netizens from each platform who will guess the title correctly will get the invitation for the special premiere.

“The social media account must be legitimate and public to be counted. Dummy accounts will not be considered as winners,” NWR Musical said.

Several netizens have already shared their guesses of what the title will be. Many have guessed “Alumni Homecoming: The Musical” or “Harana: The Musical.”

The news about the next production of Full House Theater Company was first revealed during the curtain call of AHEB musical in July.

In a video shared on Facebook by AHEB’s writer Dingdong Novenario, the cast could be heard singing the chorus of Parokya ni Edgar’s classic hit Harana.

The screen behind them then flashed drawings of a guitar, a pizza, a mustache, two beers, and a chicken.

These symbols are associated with the OPM band’s songs Harana, Picha Pie, Mr. Suave, Inuman Na, and Chikinini or Please Don’t Touch My Birdie.

Parokya ni Edgar vocalist and The Voice Generations judge Chito Miranda also shared the video performance of Harana on his Instagram account and commended the cast’ rendition.

“Ginawa nila ‘to during the final curtain call ng ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo.’ Nakakakilabot,” he wrote in the caption.

There are no details yet about the plot and cast of the Parokya ni Edgar musical, but Novenario said he would not be writing the upcoming show.

Parokya ni Edgar musical is slated to open in 2024.
