BTS’ Jimin to debut as solo artist

by Joyce Remo

ANOTHER good news for ARMYs!

The KPop group BTS’ lead vocalist and main dancer Park Ji-min, known mononymously as Jimin, is reported to be gearing up for his debut as a solo artist.

The news came days after the release of VIBE, Taeyang of BIGBANG’s collaboration with Jimin.

It also followed HYBE’s announcement of BTS: Yet To Come in Cinemas and RM’s solo album Indigo.

This Taeyang and Jimin collaboration was the latter’s first solo project after the group’s hiatus announcement.

More about Jimin’s solo

Local Korean news outlet Sports Donga was the first to release an exclusive regarding Jimin’s preparations for his solo project.

BTS’ agency, BIGHIT Music, briefly commented on the news, saying that the schedule for the artist’s debut will be revealed once it is finalized.

According to South Korean media, Jimin is set to embark on his solo career in February. Additional details on the BTS member’s album including the release, concept, and tracklist are yet to be determined.

Reaction from ARMYs

Since the news of Jimin’s solo album preparation made headlines, fans of the South Korean boy group have been sharing their excitement on social media.

The topic “PJM1 IS COMING” has trended on Twitter as ARMYs await the highly anticipated release from the singer.

Who is Jimin?

The 27-year-old Busan-born artist debuted along with other BTS members in 2013 under the record label BigHit Entertainment.

Known for his attractive mid- to low-pitched voice, Jimin’s powerful yet gentle and passionate vocals brought more color to BTS’ discography.

In 2022, he collaborated with artist HA SUNG WOON to produce an original soundtrack called With You for the melodramatic Korean television series Our Blues.

Jimin was also announced as the new ambassador of the French luxury fashion house Dior on January 16.

“This special bond seals, more than ever, his friendship with the house and Kim Jones, who had designed, in 2019, the stage outfits of his band BTS,” said Dior in a statement. “The South Korean artist now embodies the spirit and singularity of Dior style, modernity with a timeless signature.”
