AS a sexy live content creator, “Eve” earns hundreds of thousands per month by showing videos of herself wearing revealing clothes while dancing, and transmitting it live to a patron, or in this case to a video buyer.

Eve is a med student from a popular university in Metro Manila, who enjoys earning money from doing live online shows. It started when she struggled to earn money from video game streaming.

“(I did) FB Gaming live like Valorant, pero napagtanto ko na it’s hard to earn money sa Facebook live and karamihan sa kumikita is super dapat mukhang Japanese girl and that’s kinda hard for me kasi hindi ako masyadong ma-make up din kaya nag move ako sa ibang platform,” she said.

She tried Bigo, another platform. It opened her eyes to live streaming of sexy content.

“Isang beses lang ako nag-try sa Bigo Live,” she said. “Hindi talaga siya dapat magiging sexy content. Ang nangyari kasi, nagulat ako dumami viewers ko and unconsciously, hindi ko alam na medyo revealing yung suot ko. Napagkamalan akong hot liver hanggang sa naudyukan din ako ng ibang host ‘don na ituloy ko nalang daw kasi ang lakas daw.”

Eve is just one of many Bigo users who got hooked from the earnings they get from the platform. Aside from Bigo, there are also other platforms like Alua that show sexy content.

Eve enjoys Bigo because she earns so much more than she expected, especially when she reached a point of getting invited to a one on one live which they call private room.”

“Parang unbelievable, pumasok ako pero instead of showing my body, nag show ako ng iba. Nag search ako sa porn hub and then doon ko pinakita yung body ng ibang tao. Syempre yung iba naniniwala, yung iba hindi,” she said.

True enough, it is a very innovative way to do prostitution or to sell your body to random strangers.

These live streaming apps are so easy to access because they are free. Users will only have to shell out money from their wallet in the app.

It is also the alternative to mainstream social media, such as Facebook live, Instagram live, Tiktok live, and YouTube live. The difference between mainstream platforms and these alternatives is that random strangers can easily watch your live videos, especially when your profile banner catches their attention. Bigo and other live stream platforms give the host a wider audience which encourages the live streamers to experiment and stay even longer.

These apps are not unlike the ” aquariums” of the old KTV bars where it’s easier to choose your “target”. With today’s innovative technology, some people seem to spend more time online than in KTV bars.

How do “hot live” creators convert their earnings from their live streams to their personal bank accounts? These apps have their own wallet and their money, which are called “diamonds” or “beans” will have to go under other money converters before it could be transferred to the bank accounts.

In other countries, live streaming apps like these were banned due to the easy and immediate access that tempt many to resort to prostitution. This also encourages the younger generation to become “social media prostitutes.”

Live streaming was supposed to be for entertainment, where hosts could sing, dance, and throw funny lines to the audience.
