Celebrate the new year with a delightful musical journey with the return of Spotify’s ‘Playlist in a Bottle’.
‘Playlist in a Bottle’ is an experimental feature introduced by Spotify last year that allows users to create a musical time capsule by choosing songs that resonated with them at that moment in time and sealing it away for a year.
The feature provides users with a nostalgic experience as they revisit the tunes that captured their hearts a year ago.
If you are one of the million Spotify users who participated in the experiment in 2023, you can now unlock your musical time capsule from last year.
Visit spotify.com/playlistinabottle on your mobile device and choose ‘Claim Your Playlist,’ where you can look back at what songs were sealed in your time capsule.
You also have the option to save and listen to your complete 2023 Playlist in a Bottle on your Spotify account.
Bottle in a Playlist 2024
Send your future self a new musical time capsule to be opened in 2025 to capture your musical journey this 2024.
Users will be asked questions, such as “What song brings out my alter-ego?” and “What song describes my relationship status?” to help curate their playlist.
They will also be able to write a note for their future selves in the bottle playlist.
To create a new Playlist in a Bottle, visit spotify.com/playlistinabottle on your mobile device and select where you want to store your playlist among options, including an actual bottle, a snowglobe, a flip phone, a tiny bird’s nest, a rice cooker or even a dumpster.
Answer a series of song-inspired prompts and draw a note for your future self to look back on for the next year.
Finally, seal the musical time capsule and share it on your social channels!
