by Joyce Remo

AMERICAN pop superstar Selena Gomez appealed to the public to put an end to the online hate towards Hailey Bieber.

This came after the latter reached out to Gomez regarding the death threats she is allegedly receiving.

In an Instagram story, the singer-actress addressed the situation, saying that no one should experience hate or bullying.

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez wrote.

“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying,” she added.

Netizens praised Gomez for standing up for Bieber, who has allegedly been shading her for years because of the singer’s previous romantic relationship with her husband and Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber.

Meanwhile, Bieber thanked Gomez for defending her.

The model shared an Instagram story to address the “very hard” situation she was in.

“I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as she and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I,” Bieber wrote.

“The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful,” she added.

Bieber also urged netizens to be mindful of the things they post and share on social media and reminded them that love will always trample hatred and cynicism.

“We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself,” she continued. “In the end, I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy and compassion.”

The Selena-Hailey drama has been an ongoing feud since the start of the latter’s romantic involvement with Justin in 2014.

The issue resurfaced in February after fans speculated that Bieber and her model friend Kylie Jenner were throwing shade on Gomez for her “over-laminated brows.”
