Robi Domingo marries fiancée Maiqui Pineda

by Joanna Deala

WEDDING bells finally rang for Kapamilya TV host Robi Domingo and his non-showbiz fiancée Maiqui Pineda as they exchanged “I Dos” at a church ceremony.

The couple tied the knot at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of San Isidro Labrador in Bulacan on Saturday afternoon, January 6, according to a report by ABS-CBN.

This came more than a year after Domingo proposed to Pineda in Tokyo, Japan in November 2022. They had been dating for four years at that time.

Several Kapamilya stars were seen celebrating their marriage, based on photos and videos shared on social media by some celebrity attendees.

One of them is Domingo’s “Pinoy Big Brother” co-host, Melai Cantiveros, who shared moments from the wedding through a series of Instagram stories.

In one of her IG stories, Cantiveros posted a photo of Domingo wearing barong, or the traditional Filipino garment for men.

“Nakahabol [din] ako Robsy wabsy … awwwww Super happy to witness this moment Robs. We [love you] Rob and Maiqui,” she wrote.

She also posted a clip of the newlyweds sharing a hug.

At the wedding reception, Cantiveros was seen sharing a table with “GomBurZa” stars Enchong Dee and Piolo Pascual, celebrity couple Bianca Gonzalez and JC Intal, and Kapamilya actors Joshua Garcia and Daniel Padilla.

“Naka-Filipiniana talaga sa kasal ni Robi kaya naman I feel very honor[ed] na makasama ko ang ating GomBurZa,” the “Magandang Buhay” said, panning the camera to Dee.

Cantiveros, who is known for being effortlessly funny, then posted a recorded clip of Domingo speaking with the attendees and said, “Makikita [mo gaano] niya kamahal ang hosting kasi pati sa wedding nya host sya.”

Celebrity couple and OPM singers Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez also attended the wedding as godparents.

“Ninong and Ninang duties today for #robiandmaiqui,” Alcasid said, posting a photo of him with his wife Regine.

The singer-songwriter also shared another photo with Pascual, actor Donny Pangilinan, ABS-CBN COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and former Vice President Leni Robredo inside the church.

Alcasid and Velasquez sang at the wedding reception, as seen in a video shared by OPM singer Erik Santos.

Santos also posted clips of Domingo and Pineda’s first kiss as husband and wife, and when the couple stepped out of the church and was showered with red roses petals.

On August 3, 2023, Pineda revealed in an Instagram post that she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis which, she said, “causes muscle weakness, inflammation and a skin rash.”

The question of whether or not the wedding would be delayed popped up, but the Kapamilya host told ABS-CBN News that it would push through as scheduled.

“Siya [Pineda] yung nagsabi na, ‘Don’t. Give me something to hope for,'” Domingo said.

Domingo and Pineda, who were reportedly batchmates at the Ateneo de Manila University, have been together since 2018. They celebrated their fifth year of being a couple on August 6, 2023.
