Philippine Red Cross: Nearly 400 devotees received medical care

AN ESTIMATED 400 devotees who witnessed the return of the Black Nazarene procession in Manila on Tuesday received medical care according to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

The PRC said 382 individuals were brought in, with 135 being minor illnesses such as dizziness. Five of these were significant instances that included head trauma and fainting.

Meanwhile, 16 patients were rushed to the Red Cross emergency field hospital, and five were sent to the Philippine General Hospital. These patients experienced chest discomfort, sprain, numbness and body weakness; while a pregnant lady also suffered from abdominal pain.

The PRC said 319 people have been sent to their medical stations for this year’s Traslacion. Department of Health hospitals in Metro Manila have been on standby since January 5 in preparation for the religious parade.

As of posting time, the Black Nazarene is currently on Hidalgo Street near Plaza del Carmen, where the image will have its “Dungaw” ceremony with the Nuestra Señora del Carmen de San Sebastian held at San Sebastian Church.
