‘Pagkagising nagugulat pa rin ako!’ Arjo Atayde says on marrying Maine Mendoza

by RepublicAsia

IT’S been a month since Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza exchanged their vows and “I dos,” but for the former, everything still feels unreal.

Actor-politician Atayde can’t hide his joy as he shared how it is like to be married to the actress and EAT host.

In his recent guesting in Magandang Buhay, Atayde was asked how his married life was going. He expressed how happy and grateful he was to be beside his wife.

“It’s very fun and very happy. I don’t know how to explain it. But a few adjustments here and there…I am just happy, I’m just really happy,” the actor and Quezon congressman said.

The 32-year-old also shared how it felt to actually wake up beside the love of his life, descrbing it as “surreal.”

“Pagkagising nagugulat pa rin ako, e… I am very, very happy to see her, to actually wake up every morning to the person you love the most,” he said. “It’s very much surreal at some point. Of course we are new.”

He also said he did not believe in the claim of some elders that the relationship of a married couple will change as time goes by.

“They say, mag-iiba ‘yan. I mean, that’s the comment of older people. They will always say ‘it would be different.’ But to me it doesn’t seem like it could. I don’t know, I’m just happy. I really can’t explain, I am trying to find the right words to say, but I’m very happy,” he said.

After four years of being in a romantic relationship, Atayde and Mendoza tied the knot in a private wedding at the Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges Chapel in Baguio City last July 28.

The date of the wedding was also the date of their relationship milestones: Mendoza’s trending “Arjo cutie” tweet in 2013, their first meeting in 2018, and their fairy tale-like engagement in 2022.

It can also be recalled that Atayde said in an interview that the actress will be his top priority once they get married.
