PURA LUKA VEGA, the drag artist who drew criticism for her Ama Namin performance, revealed on Wednesday that one of the cases brought against her has been dismissed.
An excerpt of the resolution posted by Pura Luka Vega on X (formerly Twitter) said the case was dismissed due to a lack of probable cause.
”Very grateful that at least one of all the cases filed against [me] was dismissed. Laban lang,” she said, without elaborating on the details of the case.
Pura Luka Vega received backlash in July over a viral video that showed her singing and dancing to the remix version of Ama Namin while dressed as Jesus Christ.
Her detractors claim that what she did was disrespectful to Christianity.
Several local government units had also declared Pura Luka Vega persona non grata.
In October, she spent a few days in jail after a Manila court ordered her arrest in relation to the case filed by the devotees of Black Nazarene for violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code.
The 33-year-old drag queen was released from police custody after posting bail amounting to P72,000.
Pura Luka Vega had said that the performance was not meant to mock the Christian faith and that her intention was “to challenge our notions of how we worship or how we sing our prayers.”
