IT seems that the search for Miss Potato Corner is over!

Netizens poked fun at Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi when she posted her own photo in a Potato Corner stall, after the brand’s ‘high standard’ hiring qualifications went viral on social media.

The 25-year-old beauty queen was all smiles in the photo and said “First day at work.” 

Cortesi’s sense of humor gained hilarious reactions from netizens, who pretended to be her customers.

Cortesi’s post has gained more than 26,000 likes and one million views on X.

Controversial job post

The Potato Corner’s branch in Cavite previously drew flak for its job posting, which netizens considered “discriminatory.”

Some of the qualifications that the branch was looking for an applicant were “good visual impact,” a “weight proportionate to height,” a “clear complexion,” and a “good set of teeth.” 

Many netizens found it similar to the criteria used in beauty pageants.

The snack brand has apologized for its job posting and explained that it doesn’t “support or condone” discriminatory hiring.

“We’re all about providing equal opportunities for all, and giving fair recognition and reward to effort, attitude, potential, and creating positive outcomes,” it stressed.

It added that it was “teaming up with our valued business partners, franchisees, and suppliers to make sure that situations like this won’t happen again.”
