Bumble launched its new feature

by RepublicAsia

A FEW days ago, Bumble launched its new feature where women no longer have to make the first move to have a conversation with their match.

Ten years since the creation of the app, Bumble has always been women-centric which allows them to control their dating lives.

In keeping with the company tagline, “make the first move,” women now have an innovative method for striking up a conversation.

With the feature “Opening Moves,” it gives women an opportunity to have their move without the hassle of having an uncomfortable conversation. It also allows them to choose a prompt question or craft their own to be answered by their potential match to finally start the conversation.

Bumble also wrote in their website that the goal of their new feature is to empower women to have control and options in dating.

“We have always believed that when you make dating better for women, you make it better for everyone,” said Lidiane Jones, CEO of Bumble.

Jones also added that most of the people using the app had shared their struggle with their online dating experience including the first move.

But this new feature is not only for heterosexual couples, it’s also for same-sex and non-binary couples in which either of them can respond to their match’s question.

Here are some of the example prompts that can be use:

  • What does your perfect weekend look like?
  • What’s your favorite karaoke song?
  • What’s something about you I wouldn’t know from your profile?

In case they don’t like the response of their match to the question, they have the option to reply or they can just leave them on read.

Bumble will also release the following features along with the “Opening Moves” feature.

  • Dating intentions: Users will be able to specify what type of relationship they are looking for. The options include:
    • long-term relationship
    • life partner
    • fun, casual dates
    • intimacy without commitment
    • ethical non-monogamy
    • marriage
  • For You (previously called Best Bees): It will give users four displayed profiles based on the users’ preferences and previous matches.
  • Profile commonalities: Bumble will now show what you have in common with another user at the top of their profile. This feature will also include Spotify artists for all the music lovers out there.
  • Photo requirement: Users will now have to put four photos on their profiles in order to boost their chances of getting a match.
