A MAGNITUDE 5.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro, and was felt in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The tectonic earthquake occurred 18 kilometers northeast of Lubang at 4:23 p.m. at a depth of 60 km, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The earthquake is not likely to cause any damage, but PHIVOLCS warned that aftershocks could occur.
In Metro Manila, many employees rushed out of offices to ensure their safety.
Operations of the MRT-3, LRT-1, and 2, as well as the Philippine National Railways, were temporarily suspended in light of the earthquake.
