Giannis Antetokounmpo seeks to win another title

by Bryan Gadingan

GIANNIS Antetokounmpo, 7-time All-Star pick and 2021 NBA Finals MVP, wants to win another championship after the Milwaukee Bucks landed Damian Lillard in a stunning trade.

Lillard was transferred to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal that also included the Phoenix Suns.

The Portland Trail Blazers received Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, and draft picks, while the Phoenix Suns got Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson. However, Portland intends to release Jrue Holiday and quickly trade him.

The 2021 NBA Finals MVP was taken aback by the developments, as he had nothing to do with it.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, understanding Antetokounmpo’s relationship with Holiday, Milwaukee’s General Manager did not seek Antetokounmpo’s advice on the trade.

Antetokounmpo later spoke about the blockbuster deal that occurred.

He admitted that losing a close comrade was a bittersweet moment for him and the entire Milwaukee City, but he is also happy to have Lillard join the team.

“This guy is my brother for life, and it’s always going to be like that. He’s going to thrive wherever he ends up,” he said.

“It’s a bittersweet day for the city of Milwaukee. You get Dame, who is a great player, but you lose a great guy. Jrue took us to the promised land. I’m 10 years in now. I know it’s a business,” he added.

Regardless of how he feels, he said he must remain focused on the broader picture, which is to win the championship.

“We’ve got to focus on the goal to win the championship. Dame wants this. He’s hungry to win, and he’s going to push us. I’m very happy to have him on our team,” he said.

Antetokounmpo is recognized for his dedication to bringing glory to his ball team. The Bucks, with the addition of Damian Lillard, will likely be a title contender this season.
