BINIBINING Pilipinas has released the name of the 40 candidates who will vie for the crown this year, and one of them, Jessilen “Jessie” Salvador, has showbiz ties.
The candidates were introduced to the public via social media on Monday, February 6.
If Jessie’s name and face look familiar, it’s because she is the sister of actress Maja Saldavor. Looking at them both, Maja and Jessie prove that indeed, beauty runs in the blood.
Maja has expressed several times how proud she is of her younger sister.

Days before the announcement of the official Bb. Pilipinas candidates, Jessie shared a few teasers on social media, saying “a new journey awaits.”
Sisterly support
In a vlog interview, Jessie said that her decision to pursue her pageant dream was a result of people’s encouragement, especially from her sister Maja.
“Siya din yung isa sa nag-push sa akin na mag-join ng pageant kasi nga siguro sa height and, di ba, yung ganda,” she said.
Jessie is the half-sister of Maja and they grew up in different households. But despite sharing only one parent, Maja said she does not treat her sister any less. Jessie, too, has tried her luck in showbiz and is currently a talent of Crown Artists Management owned by Maja.

Jessie is not necessarily a newbie in showbiz. She tried hosting a noontime show in 2015 and appeared in movies, such as “Chainmail.”
Just like big sis, Jessie dances well.
She is currently training under Aces and Queens, which produced prominent beauty queens such as Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon, and Ara Arida.
Aside from Jessie, former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Reign Parani and TFC host and Miss Philippines Earth 2016 first runner up Kiara Gregorio also made the cut in this year’s pageant.
