KATHRYN Bernardo and Alden Richards continue to be recognized for their outstanding performance in the hit 2024 romantic drama film “Hello, Love, Again,” becoming two of the Box Office Heroes to be recognized at the 8th Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (EDDYs).
Organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), the EDDYs is an annual film event in the country that recognizes craftsmen, actors, writers, directors, workers, and producers in the film industry.
It revealed the list of its Box Office Heroes on a Facebook post on Saturday, July 19, featuring seven other big names in the local entertainment industry.
Joining the “Hello, Love, Again” stars on the list are Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia for the 2024 romance film “Un/Happy For You,” Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual for the action adventure movie “The Kingdom,” Ruru Madrid and Dennis Trillo for the 2024 drama film “Green Bones,” and Vice Ganda for the 2024 family comedy-drama film “And the Breadwinner Is…”
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, “Hello, Love, Again” follows Joy, played by Bernardo, and Ethan, portrayed by Richards, as they reunite in Canada and realize how they have both changed significantly since their breakup.
The movie, which marked the first collaboration between GMA Pictures and ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema, made history as the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, earning P1.6 billion in worldwide gross sales.
Meanwhile, “And The Breadwinner Is…” “Green Bones,” and “The Kingdom” were the top three entries of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) based on gross sales receipts, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported in January.
“And The Breadwinner Is…” grossed P400 million in cinemas nationwide, according to Star Cinema.
“Un/Happy For You,” on the other hand, earned P20.5 million on its first screening day, becoming the local film with the strongest opening gross in 2024.
The EDDYs said the nine Box Office Heroes will be awarded on Sunday, July 20, at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
Kapamilya Channel and Jeepney TV will air a delayed telecast of the awards ceremony. It will be available to international viewers via iWant starting July 27.
