“HELLO, LOVE, AGAIN,” a romantic drama film starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, achieved an all-time feat as the first-ever Filipino film to amass over P1 billion at the worldwide box office.
The Cathy Garcia-Sampana-helmed film earned P1.06 billion, as of November 23, Saturday.
“Thank you for the love and we love you a billion more,” said Star Cinema and GMA Pictures.
This follows the film’s triumph as the new highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time, garnering P930 million in worldwide sales, just 10 after its release in theaters. It surpassed the P924 million worldwide gross amassed by “Rewind,” a Metro Manila Film Festival (2023) official entry starring real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
Richards expressed his gratitude to their supporters on Instagram, stressing he was “truly beyond words” for the movie’s success.
Bernardo also thanked everyone for supporting the big screen project they had poured “so much love” into.
“Our hearts are overflowing with so much joy. This is more than what we’ve prayed and wished for,” the 28-year-old actress expressed.
“Hello, Love, Again” is a sequel to Bernardo and Richards’s “Hello, Love, Goodbye” in 2019, which previously held the title with P880 million in global gross sales.
The 2024 film narrates the continuation of Joy (played by Bernardo) and Ethan’s (portrayed by Richards) love story, but this time, facing the challenges of a long-distance relationship as they pursue their dreams abroad.
First premiered in Philippine cinemas on November 13, “Hello, Love, Again” is now available in 1,100 cinemas in Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Deadline reported that the movie earned $2.4 million at 248 sites in the United States in its opening week.
Rising Star awardee
Bernardo also added another feather to her cap after she was named Snow Leopard Rising Star at the 2024 Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) for being one of the Philippines’ “most bankable and beloved performers.”
In her acceptance speech in Los Angeles, California, Bernardo said she felt “surreal” to receive the recognition and represent her fellow Filipinos on the international stage.
“Thank you so much to the Asian World Film Festival’s Board of Directors for the incredible honor—not only for recognizing my body of work but for celebrating all the stories that we, as Asian artists, continue to share with the world,” she said.
Bernardo was accompanied by her mom, Min Bernardo, fellow “Hello, Love, Again” cast members, and ABS-CBN Films executives at the awards ceremony.
