ANOTHER member of the K-pop sensation GOT7 is going to enlist in the South Korean military.
South Korean hip-hop and R&B record label AOMG announced that its artist, Kim Yugyeom, will begin his mandatory military service on September 29, as a member of the Army Military Band.
In a statement translated by Korean entertainment website Soompi, AOMG said Kim has been accepted as a “specialist soldier” by the Military Manpower Administration. The 27-year-old K-pop idol will undergo basic military training first before joining the Army Band.
The agency said there will be no separate send-off event for Kim on September 29, advising fans, collectively known as Ahgase, to refrain from attending the enlistment ceremony “to prevent an accident due to on-site confusion or crowding.”
“We ask that you continue to give your love and support to Yugyeom, who will return after diligently carrying out his military duty, and AOMG will also continue to give him our unsparing support and encouragement during his military service,” it stressed.
Kim is the third GOT7 member to enlist in the military, following their leader, JAY B, and vocalist Park Jinyoung. The two were discharged from the military in November 2024, with Jay B dropping his first full-length album, “Archive 1: [Road Runner]” shortly after.

On Instagram, Kim posted a handwritten letter to his fans, notifying them of his upcoming enlistment and advising them to take care of themselves while he is serving in the military.
“I promise to come back safely without getting hurt, so please take care of yourselves, eat well, and stay healthy too,” Kim said, as translated by K-pop news site allkpop.
“Whenever you see the moon—whether it’s a full moon, a crescent, or a half-moon—please think of me. And if you miss me, listen to my songs and remember me,” he added. “I’ll also look at the same moon, thinking of all of you, and I’ll work hard while I’m away.”
In January, GOT7 made their much-anticipated comeback as a full-unit with the release of their latest extended play (EP), “Winter Heptagon.” The phenomenal septet then held their “NESTFEST” concert in South Korean and Thailand.
Kim last visited the country in November 2024 for the Manila leg of his “TRUSTY” tour at the SM North Edsa Skydome, in support of his debut full-length album, “TRUST ME.”
