GOT7 drops ‘Winter Heptagon’ EP; proves they’re ‘an icon’ in ‘Python’ MV

REMEMBER when Ahgases were told that they could play around but they had to come back to where their home is—a.k.a GOT7?

Many did just that when the seven-piece South Korean boy group—composed of Jay B, Mark, Jinyoung, Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom—dropped its latest extended play (EP), “Winter Heptagon,” on Monday, January 20, 2025.

“Winter Heptagon” consists of nine tracks that showcase each GOT7 member’s unique colors and style.

The phenomenal septet, who all debuted as solo artists, participated in the songwriting of each track in the EP, including the title track “Python” that GOT7’s rapper and one-third of “AmeriThaikong” BamBam wrote.

Meanwhile, Jackson worked on “Smooth,” Youngjae on “Our Youth,” Yugyeom on “REMEMBER,” Jay B on “Darling,” BamBam on “Tidal Wave,” Mark on “Out The Door,” and Jinyoung on “her.”

The boys then collaborated to write the lyrics of the EP’s last track, “Yours Truly,” which seemed to be their heartfelt letter to Ahgases. Some fans noticed how the comma was intentionally added in the title to make it look like a sign-off on a letter.

Jay B, GOT7’s leader, first confirmed the group’s 2025 comeback during his solo concert in Seoul, South Korea in December 2024.

GOT7 as ‘an icon’

“Winter Heptagon” was released alongside “Python’s” music video, which featured the members performing in their sleek black suits in a winter setting.

The septet showed what it meant to be “an icon,” coming back strong as a full unit after nearly three years of hiatus. GOT7’s last music release as a full group was in May 2022, when it dropped its self-titled EP with “NANANA” as its lead track.

Before its anticipated comeback, GOT7 regained full control of its old social media accounts, which were managed by its previous label, JYP Entertainment.

The K-pop stars parted ways with their former label in 2021 after seven years. This was not the end but a new beginning for GOT7 members, which allowed them to venture as solo artists and support one another.

As of writing, “Python’s” music video has over two million views on YouTube.

Welcome home, Ahgase!

GOT7 reunited the whole fandom with “Winter Heptagon’s” release, even bringing some GOT7-dedicated fan accounts on X (formerly Twitter) back to life.

Filo Ahgases became sentimental about GOT7’s return to the music scene as they shared their reactions to the group’s latest EP. Some even brought out their Ahgabong, or GOT7’s official light stick.

Aside from the fans, several K-pop artists, like NCT’s Doyoung and singer-songwriters JUNNY and Woodz, expressed support for GOT7’s comeback.

GOT7 last visited the Philippines as a full unit in 2019 for its “Keep Spinning World Tour.” BamBam and Jay B are set to return to the country for the “Waterbomb Manila 2025” and the Manila leg of “TAPE : RE LOAD,” respectively.

While we await GOT7’s return to the country, let’s all stream “Winter Heptagon” and share your favorite track with us!
