GOT7 to return to K-pop scene in January 2025

by Joanna Deala

THE drought is finally over for Ahgases or fans of K-pop boy group GOT7!

The globally renowned seven-piece act is set to return with new music on January 20, 2025, more than two years after they released their self-titled extended play (EP) in May 2022.

The much-anticipated announcement was made by none other than GOT7’s leader, Jay B, during his solo concert in Seoul, South Korea on the weekend.

His fellow members, Mark and Youngjae, were also present when Jay B confirmed their comeback at the event.

Meanwhile, BamBam, one of GOT7’s maknaes or youngest members, took to X (formerly Twitter) to deliver the good news to Ahgases in the most “BamBam way” possible.

The rapper, also known as GOT7’s “spoiler king,” posted an edited photo of a white billboard that read: “GOT7 is coming back on January 20th and everyone needs to know so I bought this billboard.”

In the caption, he wrote, “Oh god finally I can say this out loud. [It’s] been a month!! You know how hard [it is] to hold this..?”

Of course, their comeback’s confirmation was not without any spoilers, beginning with Jinyoung—who just got discharged from his military service as an active-duty soldier—dropping hints about their preparations for a new album before their other members enlist in the military.

Further details about GOT7’s comeback have yet to be revealed, but the confirmation alone is a big, happy news for Ahgases who have been waiting for their return to the music scene for years.

Other fans wondered how they even “survived” the almost three-year GOT7 hiatus, especially when Jay B and Jinyoung enlisted in the military to complete their mandatory service.

About GOT7

Debuted in 2014, GOT7 comprises Jay B, Mark, Jinyoung, Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom.

They are known for their hit songs like “Just Right,” “Lullaby,” “If You Do,” and “Hard Carry,” which remain popular among the new generation of K-pop idols.

In 2021, the K-pop stars parted ways with their former agency, JYP Entertainment. However, their departure from their label of seven years does not mean that GOT7 disbanded.

A year later, GOT7 released their six-track self-titled EP under Warner Music Korea. The members also signed with different agencies, but they continue to support each other when a member releases new music as a soloist.

Filo Ahgase also entered the GOT7 “tingi” era, as the members visited the country individually to hold their solo concerts. Yugyeom was the latest GOT7 member to grace the Philippines stage during his “TRUSTY” concert at the SM North Edsa in November.

GOT7 last performed in the country as a group in 2019 for the Manila leg of their “Keep Spinning World Tour.”
