BINI’s ‘Cherry On Top’ MV reaches 1M views in 3 hours after release

by Joanna Deala

“CHERRY On Top” is another hit song from the “Nation’s Girl Group” BINI, after its music video earned one million views three hours after it was released on YouTube.

The eight-member girl group—composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Sheena, Mikha, and Colet—shared this milestone on Thursday, July 11, the same day it released its newest single.

“Cherry Mania is definitely on!” BINI said.

The music video now has over three million views on the video sharing platform.

“Cherry On Top” is a summer banger that describes how special an individual can be, like a cherry on top or something that makes an object even better.

Like their viral songs “Pantropiko and “Salamin, Salamin,” BINI’s latest banger has vibrant and infectious melodies that will get its fans, collectively known as BLOOMs, grooving to the rhythm.

The song is composed by international composers GG Ramirez, Boy Matthews, Skylar Mones, and Shintaro Yasuda, who had worked with well-known foreign artists like K-pop groups BTS, TWICE, and aespa, and pop stars Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa.

Its two-minute and 57-second music video showcased how the octet danced flawlessly to the song’s choreography. For many fans, one of the highlights of the dance moves is when the girls incorporated American sign language (ASL) to spell out the word “cherry.”

BINI first performed “Cherry On Top” during its first-ever solo concert at the New Frontier Theater last month, alongside a sneak peek of its music video.

At that time, BLOOMs anticipated that the girl group’s comeback this month would be Aiah’s “era.” Many netizens agreed to this following “Cherry On Top’s” release, noticing how she got more parts in the song and how she made them iconic.

“Cherry On Top” was also featured on the “New Music Friday” playlist of music streaming platform Spotify.

The much-awaited single followed BINI’s first extended play “Talaarawan” in March 2024.

Future plans

BINI’s latest song is just one of the many things that the octet has in store for its fans.

ABS-CBN music head Roxy Liquigan told ABS-CBN News that they are “gathering songs” for the girl group’s fourth album. They are also working on BINI’s international releases, he added.

The girls had taken time off from their busy schedules after their three-day sold-out concert to spend time with their friends and families. A few days later, they kicked off their “BINIverse” regional tour in Baguio on July 6.

They are set to perform in Cebu City on July 14 and in General Santos City on July 20.
