THE LONG list of accolades of Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo goes on as the two sought-after stars will be honored as Box Office King and Queen at this year’s Box Office Entertainment Awards.
The awarding body, organized by Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), announced this on Thursday and said that the awarding ceremony will be held on May 12 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila University.
The award recognizes their outstanding performances in their respective big screen projects—Richard’s “Five Breakups and a Romance” and Bernardo’s “A Very Good Girl.”
In “Five Breakups and a Romance,” Richards teamed up with Kapamilya actress Julia Montes for their first-ever movie where they played the role of a medical student and a fashion designer, respectively, who are struggling to maintain their romantic relationship.
Meanwhile, in “A Very Good Girl,” Bernardo portrayed the role of an assistant who plots revenge against her tyrannical employer and retail mogul, played by actress Dolly de Leon, after she was fired from her position.
Richards and Bernardo were previously recognized as Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema at the 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards for their performance in their first team-up movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”
Released in 2019, the film tells the romantic story between a bartender, played by Richards, and a domestic helper working in Hong Kong, played by Bernardo.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” raked in over P880 million in global gross sales.
Richards and Bernardo, also known as “KathDen,” are being shipped by many netizens as several videos of their sweet interactions went viral recently.
However, neither of the two have confirmed speculations about their relationship. When asked about the real score between them, Richards said, “What you see is what you get.”
Richards is set to take on three important roles for his forthcoming project: an actor, a director, and a producer. With his directorial debut coming up, Richards was asked about the possibility for him to produce a film with Bernardo, to which he replied, “Coming soon! Let’s go!”
