First concept art of ‘Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicles’ unveiled

by Joanna Deala

The story of the fantasy-drama Encantadia continues.

Following its remake in 2016, director Mark Reyes revealed on Instagram the first concept art of Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicle, which features Kapuso actress Bianca Umali.

The concept art showed Umali clad in a Sang’gre battle costume that resembles the attire of Sang’gre Danaya, the keeper of the Earth gem, in the original version and remake of Encantadia.

Behind Umali is the Kingdom of Lireo, the home of the diwatas.

The concept art has been unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, the Encantadia director said. Reyes attended the San Diego Comic-Con in California, along with the cast and crew of Voltes V: Legacy, which he helms.

Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicle will be released in 2024, Reyes added.

The director first teased about the spin-off in October 2022, when he uploaded an image of a female figure with Enchan script written at the top and bottom parts of the photo.

In June 2023, Reyes announced that the production of the series would commence “soon.”

Preparations

Meanwhile, Umali appears to confirm her participation in Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicle, as she commented with a fallen leaf emoji on Reyes’ post.

She also reposted the concept art on her Instagram page. Actress Sanya Lopez, who played the role of Sang’gre Danaya in the 2016 remake, dropped brown heart emojis in the comment section of Umali’s post.

The 23-year-old actress has been posting videos of her combat skills on Instagram since last year. Fans speculated that this was Umali’s preparation for the forthcoming show.

The latest one she posted was a training video in May, where she was seen skillfully swishing a pair of Arnis sticks.
