Apple Music unveils Top 10 albums among 100 best list

AFTER weeks of teasing fans, Apple Music finally finishes announcing their best albums of all time, and this week unveils the Top 10 which fans have been waiting for.

Through Apple Music’s twitter account, here are the lists of albums that made it to the top.

Top 1 ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ by Lauryn Hill

Released in August 1998 with 16 tracks including Hill’s hit tracks ‘Do Wop (That Thing),’ ‘Ex-Factor, and ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You – (I Love You Baby).’ The album is a neo soul and  R&B genre and is the only solo album of American singer-songwriter Lauryn Hill. 

Top 2 ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson

Yes, all of us are thrilled that Michael Jackson’s hit album ‘Thriller’ made it to the list after more than a decade of the artist’s passing. This album is the seventh studio album of MJ released in November 1982. Received multiple awards including Grammy Awards’ Album of the Year in 1984, and Brit Award for Best Selling Album  in the same year. Famous hits 

Top 3 ‘Abbey Road’ by The Beatles

Here comes the… Beatles! They did make it to the top and as they should. Being the most influential band of all time, this album deserves to be in this spot. It was released in 1969 and gained Grammy Awards for Best Engineering Album in the Non-Classical category. Some of the hit tracks from the album are ‘Here Comes the Sun,’ ‘Come Together,’ and ‘Something.’ 

Top 4 ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince and the Revolution

A combination of rock, pop, and heavy metal, this album was released in 1984 and is the sixth studio album of American singer-songwriter, Prince. The album has been echoing all over the music industry from the vitality of its songwriting. The album also won a Grammy Award in 1984 for Best Rock Vocal Performance, with hit tracks ‘When Doves Cry,’ Let’s Go Crazy,’ and ‘Purple Rain.’ 

Top 5 ‘Blonde’ by Frank Ocean

‘I thought that I was dreaming…’ when Frank made it the fifth best album of all time. With its poetic lyrics in 17 tracks full of emotions, heartbreak, loss, and trauma, from ‘Nikes’ up to the last track ‘Futura Free’ he did deserve to be in this recognition. With this, is it safe to say that he needs to release another album? As fans have been waiting since his last release ‘Blonde’ in 2016. Though the album didn’t receive any Grammy, it was nominated for Billboard Music Awards for Top R&B Album. Hopefully, this recognition from Apple Music inspired Frank to allude to the new album and ‘Godspeed’ for that. 

Top 6 ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ by Stevie Wonder

One of the classic albums of all time that influenced childhood and brought back nostalgia when listening to this album. It was released in 1976 with 21 tracks that touch your soul with its jazz, classical, and R&B music. This album was a Grammy multi-awarded including Album of the Year, and a Best Male Pop Vocal  Performance. 

Top 7 ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe version)’ by Kendrick Lamar

Man, don’t kill the vibe, like, really! 

Indeed no one could ever take down Kendrick Lamar as  this album released in 2012 ranked seventh in Apple Music. This is a second studio album of K-dot with special collaboration of well-known hip-hop artists like Jay Rack, Dr. Dre, Anna Wise, and even his now-enemy Drake. Lamar earned four Grammy nominations from this album including Album of the Year, and gained an BET Hip Hop Album of the Year award in 2013. 

Top 8 ‘Back to Black’ by Amy Winehouse

An album of soul music, pop, and r&b, it was released 2006 with 11 tracks including its hits ‘Rehab,’ ‘Tears Dry On Their Own,’ and ‘Back in Black.’ It also won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2008. 

Top 9 ‘Nevermind’ by Nirvana

Second studio album by prominent American rock band Nirvana released in 1991. In 1999, the album became a certified Diamond record acknowledged by the Recording Industry of the Republic of America because of how mainstream this album is, making it loved by their fans.

Top 10 ‘Lemonade’ by Beyoncé

Okay, ladies, now let’s get in formation, cause Queen Bey also here for her ‘Lemonade’ album to topnotch in Apple Music best albums. Beyoncé received nine Grammy nominations for this album, and gained Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video in 2017. 

The anticipated announcement thrilled fans, however, some expressed their mixed reactions as some great artists were snubbed and should be in the Top 10. As some fans are looking forward to Taylor Swift, Drake, SZA, and other top artists today. 

Apple Music Top 100 best album of all time made to select greatest records ever made crafted by industry professionals and producers from Apple Music’s team. As per their team, the ranking isn’t part of any advertisement or commercial success but a carefully chosen list by a panel of experts.
