Bay Area Dragons beat Barangay Ginebra San Miguel convincingly Wednesday night, 99-82 to tie the best of 7 series at 1 game a piece.

The jam packed crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum might have been feeling a little deja vu with the scoreline almost similar to game one. The only difference is the roles were reversed as the Gin Kings were in the receiving end of a shellacking after doing it to the Dragons in the first game.

If the first quarter was a sign of things to come, it must be how the Dragons seem to impose themselves on both ends of the court. Ginebra was missing shot after shot towards the end of the quarter and before you know it they were trailing 52-35 by half time.

The reversal can be attributed to bounce back games from former NBA draftee Andrew Nicholson who had a big game with 30 points and 15 rebounds and Songwei Zhu who scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half.

Hayden Blankley scored 17 points to help Zhu build the huge lead at halftime to the frustration of the majority of 16044 fans in the coliseum.

LA Tenorio , who was huge in game one with 22 points, was limited to 8 points while Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings with 32 points and 11 rebounds.

It seemed done and dusted at half time even as the Gin Kings tried a fierce comeback in the third quarter keeping the deficit to 9 with the score 69-60. But the Dragons pulled away in the fourth quarter to hand Barangay Ginebra their worst defeat this season.

They have a chance to take back the momentum in game 3 on January 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
