What if your favorite artists paid a surprise visit to your home and performed right in front of you? This may sound delusional, but it has just happened to a fan of the indie folk-pop band Ben&Ben.
The nine-piece group surprised a fan, whom it called Liwanag, when it went to her neighborhood to hold a live and exclusive concert for her.
Vocalist Miguel Benjamin Guico explained in the video that such a performance was their fans’ long-standing request from the band, which is why they came up with the #BenAndBenSaTapat project.
“Sa comment section kasi namin, nakalagay doon lagi na ‘Concert sa tapat ng bahay namin when?’ or ‘Concert sa tapat ng school namin when?’ At ngayon, tinotoo namin siya,” the other half of the band’s twin vocalists said.
In a video it shared on social media, Ben&Ben were seen serenading their fan in front of her house with hit songs such as Paninindigan Kita, Mitsa (Salamat), and Leaves.
It also did a song cover of the late “Jukebox Idol” April Boy Regino’s Hindi Ko Kayang Tanggapin.
While surprised and touched, the fan could not help but jam with her favorite artists.
Ben&Ben wrote in the video’s caption that it has also been their dream to serenade each of their fans across the globe, regardless of the venue.
“Maging sa ibang universe (yung paninindigan ka na) (char). Hanggang sa susunod na habang buhay, gusto naming maabot ang bawat isang Liwanag na nakikinig sa’min,” the band stressed.
It quipped, “Minsan kakantahin namin mga request niyo, minsan kahit hindi niyo request.”
Even the songs it hasn’t performed for a long time will be played, the band added.
“Thank you sa lahat ng nakikinig sa’min,” Ben&Ben told fans and listeners.
The band then asked, “Siguro ang tanong na lang namin ay #BENANDBENSATAPAT niyo when?”
Many netizens suggested a few locations for Ben&Ben’s next exclusive performances, with some of them requesting the band perform at their school or at their wedding ceremony.
Ben&Ben last performed on the opening day of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on August 25.
The band is set to perform in Canada on September 10, Australia on October 8, and Dubai on October 14 for their Could Be Something tour.
Could Be Something, a song about “turning doubt into belief,” is the band’s first single in 2023.
