Bea can be friends with ex Zanjoe, but not Gerald

by Izel Abanilla

INDEED, being friends with an ex can be possible, but not to all.

Long before Gerald Anderson, everyone knows Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo likewise had a five-year relationship with actor  Zanjoe Marudo. And even as they parted ways in 2016, Alonzo revealed she remained good friends with him, something she cannot give, at any given time to Anderson.

Even four years since their highly controversial split, Alonzo boldly said she can never be friends with someone who lacks accountability for his shortcomings.

Alonzo and King of Talk Boy Abunda came face to face once again via the show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” as the latter got up close and personal with the actress since she moved fences to GMA.

In the interview, Alonzo repeatedly agreed to Abunda when the latter was talking about her and Marudo being friends. In past interviews in fact, she had always been candid about being willing to work with her exes including Marudo, except for one.

And straight up, she said Anderson is a totally different case.

“No, because I cannot be friends with somebody I cannot trust and somebody who doesn’t take responsibility for his actions so siguro hindi,” Alonzo said.

In 2021, Abunda made an exclusive interview with Anderson who, at that time, was still under fire over his alleged cheating and ghosting of Alonzo. It was also in the interview where he admitted his relationship with now girlfriend Julia Barretto who was being alleged as the third party behind the former couple’s split.

In that interview, Anderson categorically said, “Wala po akong ghinost.”

Early on, Alonzo admitted that she got emotional when she saw Anderson’s confession because, according to her,  he wasn’t telling the truth.

Abunda milked her statement further and asked her what exactly was untrue in Anderson’s revelation.

She remained steadfast with her version, “Siguro yung pinaka malaking pagsisinungaling niya was that he never ghosted me,” she said.

“Because he did,” she declared.

‘Nagtampo ka sa akin?’

In 2021, during his controversial interview with Anderson, Abunda gave him the opportunity to air his side which contradicted the actress’ claims about him.

While his job asked for it, Abunda, at the back of his head, confessed of thinking about Alonzo’s feelings at that time.

“Gusto ko lang malaman Bea, nagtampo ka sa akin?” he asked.

The actress did not shy away from saying yes. She did, she said, only because as a woman scorned, anyone who would take the side of Anderson at that time would not sit well with her.

“Oo kasi tao lang Tito Boy pero I’m so glad sinabi mo na iniisip mo ko kasi ‘yun ‘yung tumatakbo sa isip ko non, na parang iniisip kaya ako ni Tito Boy kung ano ‘yung nararamdaman, it’s so comforting to know that you were,” she said.

“Syempre tao lang ako, kahit sino siguro ‘yung mag interview sa kanya at that time it would hurt especially when half the time he wasn’t really telling the truth,” she added.

She clarified though that the only reason she spoke out about the issue again is because she was being asked about it.

“Dun po sa pagtatampo ko sa inyo is first, of course I’m human,” she said.

“Yes, masakit sa akin I was crying. Nasa farm kami noon. But  then dahil tao rin ako at natututo rin ako narealize ko it’s part of your job and as a great interviewer.

“Bawat side of the story kailangan mong malaman and you actually asked me if I was willing to share my story but I opted not to but I appreciate that also but kung gagawin natin ngayon Tito Boy ‘wag na siguro,” she added.

Abunda says sorry

Alonzo’s confession brought Abunda to an apology for any pain his interview with Anderson might have caused her.

“That brings me now to an apology,” he said.

“I apologize, maraming salamat for saying yes to this guesting. Pero I apologize dahil nasaktan kita. I know I was doing my job but yes I was thinking about you,” he said.

He went on to tell Alonzo that during his interview with Anderson, the latter asked him what they were supposed to talk about. Abunda said he simply told the actor that he will only follow where he [Anderson] will lead him [Abunda].

On Dominic

Since her tumultuous three-year relationship and break-up with Anderson, Alonzo tried her luck at love once again and this time, she seemed to have found it.

In the midst of her emotional ordeal, she found solace, peace and love in actor Dominic Roque with whom she has been in a relationship since January 2021.

In the portion where Abunda showed her photos of her and the actor, she only saw “happiness” and “contentment.”

She also admitted that there have been talks about settling down and making a family.

“We would talk about the future and building a family. Syempre naman [on having marriage talks]. I’m already in my 30’s so hindi pwedeng hindi mapapagusapan ‘yun,” she said.

She however downplayed any issue about being compared to each other as many have been begging her off to date Roque as she is a bigger star than him

“Never akong tumingin sa estado ng isang lalaki kahit kailan,” she said

“It was never an issue for me. People would tell me dapat nagde-date ka ng someone more successful than Dom,” she said.

“But how do you really measure success?” she asked at large.

Abunda asked her back her question and she simply answered, “I am successful because I am happy.”
