Anne Curtis gears up for Tokyo marathon to help a ‘meaningful cause’

by Izel Abanilla

KAPAMILYA actress Anne Curtis is preparing for the Tokyo marathon to support a meaningful cause.

On Instagram, the actress shared that she completed a 32-kilometer run as part of her preparation for the upcoming marathon.

“Now, it’s time to taper for the @tokyomarathon.  I’ve deferred my entry since 2019 & decided to commit on Jan 1 to finally do it – giving me just about 2 months to train. I’m even more inspired because, as my past 2 marathons, I will be running for a very meaningful cause,” she said.

Running with a purpose

Curtis shared that she will be dedicating her run to raise funds for children who are victims of violence, abuse and exploitation.

“Running with a purpose has always made each kilometre even more meaningful. And for my 3rd marathon in Tokyo on March 5, I’m dedicating it to help raise funds for child victims of violence, abuse and exploitation,” she said.

She would be helping through the UNICEF and has already met with its team. She learned about the needs of women and children for child protection services, she said.

Fans and friends from showbiz, including Pia Wurtzbach, Bea Alonzo, Jericho Rosales, Angelica Panganiban and Charlene Gonzales, all expressed their love and support for Curtis and her cause.

Back in April 2018, Curtis was appointed the celebrity advocate of UNICEF Philippines, during which she competed for the London marathon. As a celebrity advocate, she helped raise funds for the agency’s emergency response programs for the children of Marawi.
