Anne Curtis completes Tokyo marathon: ‘Every single kilometer was worth it’

by Izel Abanilla

KAPAMILYA actress Anne Curtis added a feather on her cap yet again as she completed this year’s Tokyo marathon, which she did to raise funds for children who have been victims of violence, abuse, and exploitation.

On Instagram, she posted photos of her kissing and posing with her finisher medal as well as a video of Filipinos cheering her on.

“Officially a @tokyomarathon finisher,” she said in her caption.

“Every single kilometre was worth it, knowing I was running to help Filipino children heal and recover through the funds WE (yes, this includes every single one of you that donated) raised together,” she added.

This is not the first time that Curtis has completed a marathon, as she had run in the New York and London marathons in 2016 and 2018.

But this is the first time she completed one as a mother, which made her a little bit emotional.

Being a mother, now as well, I couldn’t help but get emotional when I crossed that finish line. It just hit a little differently this time around. Running with a purpose bigger than just receiving a medal kept me fueled”

The actress also continued to encourage the public to keep on donating for the beneficiaries of her run until the next 30 days so they could help more children.

“Right now, we have gone beyond our target in just 2 weeks… and as long as you keep donating for the next 30 days, I will match whatever the final amount ends up being. So we can help more children receive the services they need,” she said.

Anne thanks supporters

The 38-year old mother thanked her trainer Gab Rosario, a strength and conditioning coach who helped her get ready for eight weeks. According to Curtis, they ran for three to four weeks in the course of two months to prepare her for the marathon.

She also thanked the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund for partnering with her to set up a fundraiser.

The actress did not fail to credit the Filipino fans whose cheers largely helped her finish the race.

Lastly, she thanked her husband Erwan Heusaff and daughter Dahlia Amelie for supporting her all the way.

Anne and Unicef

Curtis has been a celebrity advocate of UNICEF since 2018. She joined the organization to know more about the situation of children being abused in the Philippines and to know how she could help.

She has always emphasized that “every donation, no matter how big or small” is already a big help.

She also mentioned in previous posts that she had deferred her participation in the Tokyo marathon since 2019, but decided to finally go for it this year, giving herself only two months to train.
