Zac Efron follows Vanessa Hudgens on Instagram

by Izel Abanilla

Start of something new?

Eagle-eyed netizens caught Hollywood actor Zac Efron following ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens on Instagram over a decade after their split, and his subtle show of support for her is sending their fans into major “High School Musical” nostalgia.

On Monday, April 17, social media users noticed that Efron, 35, had officially followed Hudgens, 34, on Instagram. The “17 Again” star currently follows 278 people, including Hudgens.

Meanwhile, Hudgens has not returned the favor yet as of this writing.

It is still unclear when Efron started following Hudgens on Instagram, but fans have been talking about it since Monday.

From reel to real team up

It was in 2006 when young people all over the world went crazy over Disney Channel’s hit “High School Musical,” which catapulted then-teenagers Efron and Hudgens to global superstardom.

Playing Gabriella Montez and Troy Bolton, the two took their romance off-screen when they admitted that they were finally dating in 2007. They broke up in 2010.

The two have led separate lives since then and have been involved in serious relationships.

Hudgens dated American actor Austin Butler for nine years and even got engaged to baseball player Cole Tucker after two years of dating.

She recently visited the Philippines to film a documentary that’s set to pay homage to her Filipino roots as well as promote Philippine tourism. The project, which features Palawan and Manila, is directed and produced by Paul Soriano.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named Hudgens as the country’s tourism ambassador.

Hudgens was born to a Filipina mother who migrated to the US at age 25 and an American father.

She has so far explored the pristine islands of Palawan and has repeatedly expressed her love for adobo, the famous Filipino dish.
