AFTER rumors circulated online linking BLACKPINK’s Rosé to alleged drug use, the group’s agency YG Entertainment denied the claims and threatened to take legal action against those spreading false information.
In a statement, YG said the allegations against the BLACKPINK member, which stemmed from a photo of her at a party, are groundless.
“Rumors related to BLACKPINK’s ROSE, which is spreading to some online communities, SNS, etc., are clearly false,” said YG.
It said it plans to press charges against its artist’s detractors.
“We are taking legal action against acts that violate human rights and discredit the artists,” it said.
It was keeping an eye on those who are making the claims and spreading the rumors and would spare them no mercy, it added.
“We are currently monitoring those who created and spread the rumors, and will take strong legal action in the future without any leniency or settlement,” it said.
Where the rumors started
On Wednesday, several Chinese news agencies reported on speculations that Rosé, whose real name is Park Chae-young, took drugs at a party with her acquaintances.
This came after former Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci posted photos on Instagram from a party with his friends. One of the pictures featured Rosé as she sat at a table with them.
The ashtray seen on the table in the background sparked speculations that it was a sign of drug use, which YG vehemently denied.
Tisci took the photo down following the drug controversy involving the South Korean singer.

Rosé is one of the members of the iconic KPop all-female group BLACKPINK. Together with Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa, the group debuted in 2016 with the release of its song called WHISTLE.
Aside from her group-related activities, Rosé also ventured into a solo career in 2021 and released her single album R, which consists of the tracks ON THE GROUND and GONE.
