WHO’S ready for more misery?
The comedy-horror supernatural series Wednesday will be staying on Netflix for its second season.
In a Twitter post, Netflix revealed that the TV show starring Jenna Ortega has been officially renewed for Season 2.
“More misery is coming,” it said in the 45-second teaser.
The announcement came in the wake of speculations that the show may transfer to another platform because the company that produces it is now owned by Amazon.
What’s the show about?
Wednesday follows the story of high school student Wednesday Addams as she sets out to master her psychic abilities, defeat a monster behind a killing spree, and solve the mystery that shrouded her parents for 25 years, all while she navigates complex relationships at the Nevermore Academy.
Since its release in November 2022, it has become one of the most viewed shows on the streaming platform.
It also became viral because of Wednesday’s dance moves which have been extensively copied on social media, a fact that Netflix referenced in its teaser for Season 2.
What people say
The show leans toward “learning the value of teamwork, tolerance and human connection,” according to The New York Times review.
Ortega has also been praised for her performance in the show. Fans can’t help but notice her impeccable portrayal of the death-obsessed girl turned high school sleuth.
In its review, Forbes magazine said that the series lead’s interpretation of the stoic, morbid character is the main thing that makes the entire show work.

“Wednesday strikes exactly the right balance of being prickly and overtly hostile and a-emotional while still being a compelling lead with just enough humanity to make her someone you’re still able to root for,” Forbes magazine wrote.

While Netflix has yet to disclose the exact release date of the show’s next season, fans are already expecting favorable results from the well-loved television series.
