For the love of Filipino chicken adobo, Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens broke her pescatarian diet.
And she does not regret it a bit.
“I’m eating chicken adobo, and I did, and it was so worth it!” she in a recent press conference in Manila. “I’m not eating chicken again anytime soon. But that moment… I mean, there’s a time and place for everything!”
She added: “You know, this is my first trip to the Philippines! This is as authentic as it’s gonna get.”
As a pescatarian, the actress refrains from consuming red meat or poultry and eats only fish and other seafood.
It was in the 1990s when the term pescatarian was coined, which meant the combination of “pesce” or Italian for fish, and “vegetarian.”
The “High School Musical” star visited the country to promote Philippines tourism and film a documentary that pays homage to her Filipino roots. The first place she visited was the pristine islands of Palawan.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself conferred on her the title of global tourism ambassador for the Philippines.
The 34-year-old actress was born to a Filipina mother and an American father.
