Stranded Cebu Pacific plane cause flight delays

by Deanna Macaranas

ON Friday morning, a Cebu Pacific plane got stuck in a grass portion of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) taxiway—causing ramp congestion.

Cebu Pacific Air A-231 aircraft was repositioning from Bay 111 to Bay 122A of NAIA terminal 3 when it suddenly changed its direction.

The aircraft’s left main gear swerved from the taxiway, becoming bogged in the soft grass

This causes some parking bays to be temporarily unavailable for other aircrafts.

In a statement the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that “There were no passengers or crew onboard and no injuries reported at the time of the incident.”

With the effort of MIAA and the aircraft recovery team, the removal of the plane was successful.

However, due to the incident NAIA Terminal 3 Bays 110-112 became unavailable for use.

This left three parking bays available for wide-body planes.

Due to the ramp congestion incident, 13 Cebu Pacific flights in NAIA were delayed.

According to MIAA, the announced affected flights are:
