RepublicAsia x iACADEMY: What could be gained from the ‘Lead Like a Pro’ summit?

by Joanna Deala

LEARNING, as we all know, doesn’t just happen in a regular classroom. This is why schools and other organizations have been taking steps to boost everyone’s knowledge in a certain subject through the hosting of conferences, summits, seminars, workshops and the like.

With the goal of equipping students with knowledge on technology and digital media, RepublicAsia joined forces with iACADEMY for the summit “Lead Like a Pro: Unlocking the Potential of Future Tech and Digital Media.” Powered by Philippine-based social entertainment app Kumu, the summit will be held on May 12, Friday, at the iACADEMY Auditorium in Makati.

Joining this event will not only allow attendees to learn new skills; they may also get inspiration and motivation from the speakers, socialize and build networks, be entertained, and even receive giveaways.

Listen to comprehensive talks

“Lead Like a Pro” summit will touch on various topics concerning technology and digital media. Different personalities will talk about their mastery of current and future trends in new journalism, content creation, data science and algorithms, and online entrepreneurship.

Speaking about new journalism is RepublicAsia’s very own Senior Deputy Editor Cecille Villarosa and ABS-CBN’s Sports TV News Anchor Migs Bustos.

For content creation, it will be Social Media Influencer and Content Producer Kerwin King who will take the stage, alongside Lifestyle/Beauty Vlogger Lou Sanchez, Unbox Creator Network Managing Director Lea Inocian, and Travel Vlogger Hannah Pangilinan.

Speakers for the science of digital media are PayMongo Founder Francis Plaza and 28squaredstudios CEO Richard Juan.

KUMU’s Co-Founder James Rumohr, Shoppertainment Live CEO Hiyasmin Neri-Soyao, KUMU’s Vice President of Marketing KC Montero, and TV host and actress Say Alonzo will give their own takes on online entrepreneurship.

Get inspired, motivated

Does anyone become an expert overnight? Perhaps if they have some sort of magical powers or access to advanced technology that hasn’t been publicized yet. But it’s not the case with these resource speakers.

The summit’s speakers took time and effort to hone their skills and improve their capabilities.

Attendees could get inspiration and motivation from different stories and experiences of each speaker that helped them achieve the level of expertise that they have now.

Socialize, build networks

Some 700 attendees are expected at the “Lead Like a Pro,” consisting of 600 iACADEMY students and 100 students from other universities. With this crowd, it’s not unlikely for students to meet new contacts and even make new friends who share their interest in technology and digital media.

The summit will not just be about speaker-to-audience connection but also audience-to-audience interaction, as attendees can expect interactive games with prizes!

Be entertained

Aside from the comprehensive talks, speaker and audience interactions, and games with prizes, there will also be performances from various artists that will add life to the summit.

Included in the roster of performers are R&B singer Maki, singer-songwriter Eunice Janine, and The Voice Teens Philippines Season 2’s Drei Sugay.

Receive souvenirs

Of course, RepublicAsia, iACADEMY, and KUMU won’t let the attendees go home bringing only the lessons and experiences they got from the summit.

Participants will get giveaways at the end of the event. There will also be a self-shoot layout for the glam booth, where attendees can take photos for a maximum of two minutes.

The “Lead Like a Pro” summit will be hosted by sportscaster Martin Javier and multimedia host, actress and content creator Rain Matienzo. Registration on Friday will start at 11:30 a.m., with the summit beginning at 1 p.m. See you all there!
