VLOGGER Donnalyn Bartolome once again got bashed online after trying to lighten the mood of those returning to work by advising those complaining about it to just be grateful that they have a job.
Bartolome also said she was “feeling lucky” as she shared on Facebook her thoughts about people who feel sad about returning to work after the holidays.
“Bakit may sad dahil back to work na? Diba dapat masaya ka kasi may chance ka na pagandahin buhay mo at ng pamilya?” she said.
She also shared her belief that having work on the first day of the year means having work for the entire year.
“If work makes you unhappy, I hope you find a job that will,” she added.
At the end of her post, she reminded her followers that having a job is a blessing and asked them to change their mindset.
Bartolome’s post did not sit well with some netizens.
One Twitter user said influencers like Bartolome are out of touch with the plight of everyday Filipinos and said that the vlogger’s opinion is coming from a position of privilege and reeked of “toxic positivity.”
A Facebook commenter said some people are lucky enough to find work that makes them happy, but there are also those who stick with a job they do not enjoy because they have bills to pay.
Others dared the vlogger to exchange jobs with them.
Another commenter asked her to shut up if she does not experience commuting to work like them.
Donnalyn became the second top trending topic on Twitter because of the comments on her post.
Last August, Bartolome drew flak from netizens who criticized her “kanto-themed” birthday party for supposedly romanticizing poverty.
She was also criticized for her birthday photoshoot where she dressed up as a baby and posed for sexy photos. Netizens said it was inappropriate and disturbing.
