AMID mass exodus of users and laid-off employees making Twitter a center of flak online, its new owner and chief executive officer Elon Musk reported Sunday that the platform recorded more people signing up daily with lesser hate speech impressions.
As of November 16, signups rose to an “all-time high” of 66 percent compared to the same week in 2021, reaching an average of almost two million per day in the past seven days, Musk said in a tweet.

The CEO said that hate speech impressions for November are lower than October 17, 2021. Data shows that since October 2021, the platform recorded a continuous spike in hate speech reaching 10 million impressions. However, the November 13 report from Musk revealed that it dropped nearly 2.5 million hate speech impressions.
In addition, he noted that user active minutes had reached an all-time high, with an average of 8 billion active minutes per day in the last seven days as of November 15. This constitutes a 30 percent increase in comparison to the same week in the previous year.
Reported impersonations on the platform also plummeted, although Musk stated that it spiked earlier this month due to the rollout of Twitter Blue, which enables every user to earn a blue check (verified status) for $8 worth.
In the same tweet, Musk, who had laid off more than half of its employees since early November, said the company is hiring new staff to fill in the rebranded Twitter 2.0. About a hundred more employees did not sign up for Musk’s latest version of Twitter which requires them to work for long hours – prompting them to resign.
According to Musk, Twitter 2.0 features “the everything app,” which allows encrypted direct messages, long-form tweets, relaunching of blue verified, and payments.
