Miss Universe PH Celeste Cortesi to successor: ‘Remember your values’

In a few days, the country will see another queen crowned as the new Miss Universe Philippines. 

What advice does current title holder Celeste Cortesi have for her successor?

“My advice is to work really hard, to not forget who you are, always be yourself,” she told republicasia in an exclusive interview on Friday (April 28) at an event in Bonifacio High Street for a haircare brand.

Cortesi adds: “Remember your values, and also enjoy the experience, because it is really once in a lifetime. [T]his is going to be one of the best years of your life, just enjoy, make friends, and don’t even forget all the people [who] have been helping you throughout the journey.”

As she concludes her reign, Courtesy took to Instagram to express gratitude to her team and supporters.

“To one year of carrying the crown with strength, dignity, and grace. Thankful for the people that have been with me and supported me unconditionally,” Cortesi wrote.

“Thankful for my team, you guys are my rock. Most of all, thankful for my fans, your love for me is never ending and my heart is full of joy and gratitude. The best is yet to come and I cannot wait to share my journey with all of you,” she added.

The 25-year-old Filipino-Italian stunner won Miss Universe Philippines 2022 four years after bagging the Miss Philippines Earth title in 2018. 

She represented the country in the global pageant held in New Orleans last January. She bowed out of the race after failing to enter the Top 16.

In ending her Instagram post, Cortesi teased followers: “Few days before I crown my successor, who’s your bet for the crown?”
