Filipino war veterans may avail of free rides on LRT-2, MRT-3, and the Philippine National Railways on April 5, 10, and 12, in line with the celebration of the Philippine Veterans Week and Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Wednesday, April 5.

Military veterans will only need to present valid Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) identification cards before boarding the train.

The management of MRT-3 allows a war veteran to bring one companion.

Meanwhile, operations of the LRT-2, MRT-3, and PNR will be suspended from April 6 to 9 to give way to maintenance activities.

The Philippine Veterans Week is commemorated yearly from April 5 to 11. This year, the Day of Valor falls on April 9, which also happens to be Easter Sunday, prompting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to move the commemoration to April 10, Monday.
