DON’T forget to bring your umbrellas, especially those in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao and Cagayan Valley regions.
Rain gear check before heading out if you are in Ilocos Norte and Apayao provinces, too.
State weather forecasting agency Pagasa said rainfall may be moderate and sometimes heavy in those areas today, January 24
The Low Pressure Area, in collaboration with the Northeast Monsoon, continues to bring cloudy skies and rains to most parts of the country today.
LPA in Davao
Pagasa said as of 4am January 24, the satellite data monitored LPA’s location around 280 kilometers southeast of Davao City.
The LPA is pulling a lot of clouds towards Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol and Palawan island. It also means there is a high probability of rains in those areas, although it might light to moderate only.
Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao regions will be at the receiving end of the moderate to heavy rains of the LPA trough or extension.
Obet Badrina, Pagasa weather specialist, said there is a low chance that the LPA will form into a tropical depression. It might even dissolve in the next few days. But who knows, he mused. The Philippines is averaging one tropical storm every January.
Northeast Monsoon
The prevailing amihan is expected to dump moderate to heavy rains (again!) to Cagayan Valley and Apayao.
The rain showers will also extend to Ilocos Norte, which may come as relief for farmers considering the region has not been receiving the average rainfall for the past 3 weeks.
Pagasa climate monitoring shows the Ilocos region has been receiving less than 50mm of rainfall from January 1-22 this year.
Meanwhile, as for Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the Northeast Monsoon will have no significant impact. The weather will be generally fair, although Badrina said there might be light rains here and there.
