Lola Amour’s ‘Raining In Manila’ tour begins this Saturday

by Joanna Deala

We hope that it won’t rain in Manila, as Filipino indie band Lola Amour will embark on a tour this weekend.

The seven-piece band announced on its social media pages that the tour titled “Raining In Manila” will kick off on August 12 at Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium in Ermita, Manila. The event will start at 5 p.m.

Fans need not worry about the admission cost, as the group made it clear that they will be having a free show.

Lola Amour will share the stage with other artists: alternative folk rock band The Ridleys, pop duo Leanne & Naara, Davao-based band PLAYERTWO, and singer-songwriter Arthur Miguel.

Other tour stops have yet to be announced.

The band is composed of Pio Dumayas (lead vocals), Raymond King (backing vocals and bassist), Zoe Gonzales (guitarist), Angelo Mesina (trumpeter), David Yuchico (backing vocals and keyboards), Jeff Abueg (saxophonist), and Raffy Perez (drummer).

Raining In Manila

The band named their tour after their hit single, “Raining in Manila.” It was released in June 2023.

Their song has been trending on X as it caught both the attention of local and international listeners.

Among those who have listened to “Raining In Manila” are members Heeseung, Jay, Jake, and Jungwon of fourth generation K-pop boy group ENHYPEN.

Filipino fans of ENHYPEN, known as ENGENES, rejoiced on X on Monday as Jay tried his hand at playing the hit song with his guitar during a Weverse live.

This was immediately noticed by Lola Amour, who praised the K-pop idol’s guitar skill.

“Cool that he just learned it on the spot without any tabs/chords on hand!” it said.

“Raining In Manila” now has over 24 million streams on Spotify.

Other songs

Lola Amour is also known for their songs “Pwede Ba” in 2018 and “Fallen” in 2021.

In case some listeners haven’t heard yet, “Pwede Ba” has a Korean version released in January 2020.

Like the “Raining In Manila” tour, the indie band also held a concert tour named after their hit track “Fallen” last year.

Their debut extended play was released in 2017, which consists of four songs, namely “Fools,” “Maybe Maybe,” “No Tomorrow,” and “Piece of Mind.”
