IT’S the first Monday of the year. Good thing it’s still a holiday because it’s gonna be rainy in the eastern corridor of the country, some parts of the Cordilleras, and entire Visayas islands, state weather Pagasa said.
Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said the Low-Pressure Area was located outside 870 km southeast of Mindanao and will not likely form into a typhoon. But the LPA’s trough or the extension is bringing moderate to at times heavy rains in the regions of Davao, Caraga, Eastern and Central Visayas.
The Northeast Monsoon is also bringing moderate to at times heavy rains in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, Quezon and the Bicol region.
Pagasa warned of floods and rain-induced landslides brought in those areas.

The rest of the country will be generally fair, but still, you better bring your umbrellas in case you go out for late-minute holiday getaways. There is a chance of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms today.
Temperature check
The Northeast Monsoon and the rains will lower the temperature at an average minimum of 24.7°C. But the mercury may also rise up to 30°C.
Baguio City will likely record the lowest temperature again at 17°C.
Tagaytay and Tuguegarao cities will also be cool at 20°C. The rains will likely keep Tuguegarao within the cool range, as the maximum temperature will only be at 24°C.
As for Zamboanga City, 24°C is gonna be its lowest, and could turn into an oven at 33°C. Legazpi might reach 31°C, too. Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Metro Manila will not be far off at possible 30°C.
The humidity range for the country is 65-85 percent. So yeah, it might be sticky hot despite the rains.
Yesterday, it was hottest in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro with sweltering 34.9°C. Clark came in second at 33.1°C. Zamboanga City, Subic, Muñoz in Nueva Ecija, Dipolog City and Puerto Princesa City registered 32°C temperature levels.
Gale warning
Pagasa advised fishermen and boatmen on board small seacrafts against venturing out to sea off the eastern seaboard of Luzon, as well as the western and northern seaboards of northern Luzon. Sea conditions in the following areas will be rough to very rough as a result of the gale force winds associated with the Northeast Monsoon:
