HUNK actor Jake Cuenca has been trending on social media over his controversial kissing scene with fellow actor Sean de Guzman in their upcoming movie “My Father, Myself,” an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
The film is a BL movie directed by Joel Lamangan that stars Jake Cuena, Sean de Guzman and Dimples Romana.
BL series and movies have become popular in Asia and originated from the Japanese “Yaoi,” a genre of fictional media that portray homoerotic romances between men.
Since the release of its trailer on November 4, Cuenca’s movie has been the talk of the town.
What’s the matter?
Netizens were triggered by the teaser showing the kissing scene of Jake Cuenca and Sean De Guzman.
In the movie, Jake plays the adoptive father of Sean’s character, and the two have an affair.
Viewers were shocked by the incestuous relationship between the two, as well as their dialogue, shown in the trailer.
One of the characters in the movie was heard remarking: “I can’t believe that my own father is having an affair with my boyfriend.”
Some social media users wondered why the actors accepted the daring and controversial roles.
Prior to accepting his latest role, Cuenca has appeared in daring movies, but has not yet played a character that had a sexual relationship with another man.
De Guzman, on the other hand, was launched in the movie Anak ng Machor Dancer and has appeared in BL series.
