IV of Spades announces new album ‘Andalucia’

by Rescel Ocampo

IV of Spades announced an upcoming album titled Andalucia, set to be released on November 5, during their surprise appearance at Wish 107.5’s 11th Anniversary concert at Eton Centris on Friday.

The performance also marked their return to the concert stage following years of hiatus. More details about the album have yet to be revealed.

The announcement follows the band’s reunion last month with the release of their single “Aura” under Sony Music Entertainment.

The track, written by all four members—Unique Salonga, Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, and Badjao de Castro—was accompanied by a music video directed by Raliug and presented by Lunchbox.

IV of Spades had been on an indefinite hiatus since August 2020, saying at the time that they would be pursuing personal interests and taking “needed time off” as a band.

Since their hiatus, however, the members have been actively pursuing solo endeavors.

De Castro plays drums for the experimental rock supergroup Party Pace alongside Sandwich and the Eraserheads’ Raymund Marasigan; bird., Chicosci, and Jejaview’s Eco del Rio; and guitarist John Apura.

Salonga, meanwhile, has built a solo career with three full-length albums: Grandma (2018), PANGALAN: (2020), and Daisy (2023).

Benitez and Silonga also pursued solo music projects during the break, each releasing singles and albums of their own.

With Andalucia now on the horizon, IV of Spades signals not only their full return to recording but also a new era for the band after years away from the spotlight.
