AFTER a series of self-written hits, rising young OPM singer Kenaniah is interpreting another composer’s song for the first time, the nostalgia-inducing track Hanggang Sa Buwan.

The song premiered on YouTube on April 14 and is the theme song of Viva One’s series The Rain in España, an adaptation of the hit novel by Gwy Saludes.

It was composed by Martin Riggs and Saludes herself, and was produced under O/C Records.

Hanggang Sa Buwan is inspired by love story of the main characters in the series, Luna and Kalix, who are more popularly to its readers as #LuKal.

They are portrayed by Heaven Peralejo and Marco Gallo in the series adaptation, which will premiere at Viva One on May 1.

“I wrote the song [from] the perspective of Kalix and his love for Luna,” Saludes said.

The song has so far gained positive reactions on social media and had fans extending congratulatory messages to the 18-year-old Kenaniah for his right-in-the-feels interpretation.

Meanwhile, his management O/C Records said his compositions Better Now, Hindi Ikaw, and the more recent Bahala Na have all proven to be commercially successful.

These have collectively reached 35 million streams on the music streaming platform Spotify, it said.

Taking OPM by storm

Currently, Kenaniah is among the top Filipino male artists on Spotify, as he has reached more than two million monthly listeners.

He is seen as one of the most promising young performers of this generation.

Besides being a prolific singer-songwriter, arranger and producer, Kenaniah is also adept with keyboards and guitar.

His fans also compare his looks to a young Ricky Martin.
