ATTENTION, bookworms! The largest traveling book fair in the country is just around the block.
The Philippine Book Festival will be held at the World Trade Center in Pasay from June 2 to 4.
Aside from featuring Filipino books and celebrating Philippine literature, culture, and content, attendees will also have the opportunity to join seminars, workshops, and debates, watch various performances, meet their favorite local authors and comic artists, and get their copies signed during the festival.
The book festival is open to the general public and free of charge.

Award-winning public historian and academic Ambeth Ocampo, who is best known for his definitive writings about the country’s national hero Jose P. Rizal, will be present during the book fair’s second day on June 3.

The author behind the books Rizal Without the Overcoat and Makamisa: The Search for Rizal’s Third Novel will be holding a meet and greet session and a book signing opportunity with the attendees from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, Gwy Saludes, an emerging name in the Philippine literary scene, will also hold a meet and greet session during the festival’s third day on June 4, Sunday.
Saludes is known for her engaging novels that circles on romance and mental health, such as The Rain in España, Safe Skies, Archer, and Chasing in the Wild.
Author of the poetry books Of Flowers that Bloomed in Fire and Of Flowers that Bloomed At Night Jerico Silvers will also be attending the fair for his meet and greet and book signing session with Ikaw Sa Bawat Araw author Ron Camino.
The event will take place on June 3 from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m.
It will be followed by another book signing session with All The Lonely People author Kanina Peña at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Other authors like Filipina actress Rica Paralejo and husband Joseph Bonifacio, Eugene Evasco, Augie Rivera, AI Estrella, Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides, Yna Reyes, Luis Gatmaitan, Grace Chong, Leo Kempis-Ang, Beth Parrocha-Doctolero, and Mary Ann Ordinario will also be signing book copies during the festival.
Workshop with comic artists
Book festival attendees will also have access to participate in various workshops with several comic artists and authors in the country.
Randy Valiente, the illustrator and author behind the comics Reanimator and Lindol Comics, will be discussing the history and visual traditions of the Filipino comics on June 2, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Pugad Baboy creator and cartoonist Pol Medina Jr. will be holding a comic strip making workshop during the Philippine Book Festival’s second da1y from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

It will be followed by the discourse on the expansion of the webtoon industry, on the other hand, will be tackled by Don’t Let Go of the Mental Rope webtoon author Na Seunghoon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. of the same day.
Meanwhile, Tarantadong Kalbo illustrator Kevin Eric Raymundo will be talking about the process of creating comics in the socio-political climate on June 4, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
