SHOUT out to all detective-wannabes! Challenge your wits in the Philippines’ first live roleplaying game.

Established almost a decade ago, Mystery Manila brings a puzzle-solving game with different themes packed in tiny escape rooms that will surely test customers’ problem-solving skills and imagination limits.

This attraction started among four friends who enjoy challenging themselves by visiting various escape rooms around the world. From their experience, they brought Mystery Manila in 2013.

According to Mystery Manila’s Operations Supervisor, Jaide Balbuena, the attraction offers a variety of escape rooms based on several themes taken from television and film series.

“We have four different themed rooms in this branch. Well, we have Pym Particle, which is inspired from the movie Antman, the Debbie’s Doll, which is inspired from the movie Annabelle or The Conjuring, the Mutants Mission [inspired from the film] X-Men, and the Alien Assault, [which is] more of a sci-fi themed room,” he told republicasia.

Game rules

Mystery Manila participants will be given 50 minutes to solve the mysteries inside the escape room they chose. 

They will have to work their way through riddles and puzzles in order to break free from the rooms. There will be objects and clues available inside the room to help them unlock doors and answer the tricky riddles. 

Customers will get a special prize depending on how fast they can solve the mystery.

If players fail to decode the mystery, they will be given the option of trying it again at a discounted rate.  

Players can also ask the gamekeepers for help if they are struggling to get to the bottom of the puzzle. However, every clue given to the players means five minutes are added to their final time.

Customized games

Aside from challenging people through its escape rooms, Mystery Manila also holds corporate events and other occasions outside its branches. Their staff also customizes games for the attraction’s patrons.

Mystery Manila is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their Century Mall branch in Makati, while customers can visit the Eastwood branch from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
